Shortstache

Garrett is a lifestyle photographer with a knack for storytelling. He currently resides in Southern California, but seems to travel anywhere to get the job done. Design, photography, and videography are his main focuses. His unique perspective in the creative industry is evident through his color aesthetic and derivative in his style. Storytelling is a key element he emphasizes through both his personal and professional work. The moments in between are what matters the most. It’s about the bigger picture and journey as a whole. The name "shortstache" comes from an old mustache growing contest between Garrett and an old friend. At the time, they were shooting short films about inspiring people that no one had really heard of around the town they grew up in. Rising victorious, Garrett kept the name and thought it was unique and easy to remember. He thinks that having your own sense of style and aesthetic are what make you, you. Build that style and own it. Create to inspire and explore your boundaries daily.

you're right where you need to be

Shortstache #1

Location: Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park, Alberta Canada"I tell people that all the time when I'm doing workshops or mentoring someone, you need to have faith that where you are in this exact moment is exactly where you're supposed to be. Whether that's a rough spot, a great spot, they both make you who you are in this present moment.” - Shortstache

stay curious

Shortstache #2

Location: Reinebringen, Norway“For me, curiosity is huge. I wanna see the world for myself. No single experience is gonna be the same as someone else's, I tell people that all the time. It all depends on who you're with and what you do that defines your experiences somewhere, and that's with everything. I think that's what defines your own journey for yourself.” - Shortstache

The higher you climb the better the view

Shortstache #3

Location: Landmannalaugar, Iceland"For me, it's not always the top that essentially matters, it's the way in which you get there. The higher you climb, you get to see the steps along the way. It’s easier to give up at certain moments if you don't know what it's like at the top. It’s worth getting to the top, but also might not be everything that you anticipated. Understanding that the journey to get to the top is your reflection of the effort you put in and the conversations you had along the way.” - Shortstache

everything happens like it should

Shortstache #4

Location: Fjaðrárgljúfur, Iceland“This specific spot is pretty iconic. Standing inside the canyon, you don’t get to fully appreciate how massive the valley is. When you’re able to zoom out and see the actual formality of the landscape, you see how small we are, you get a sense of a greater purpose and meaning to everything.” - Shortstache

trust the process

Shortstache #5

Location: Senja, Norway“This is my life's motto and my own creative motto for myself. I have to remind myself daily, trust exactly what's happening right now. Wherever you're at, you're supposed to be there, feeling everything, the in-betweens, the ups and downs, it’s all part of the process.” - Shortstache

one day at a time

Shortstache #6

Location: Landmannalaugar, Iceland“When shooting landscape photography, the perfect shot comes and goes in an instant. For this piece in particular, we got to see the moon rise and the sun's setting at the same time. We could see the day we already had but also tomorrow coming simultaneously. We didn't expect it. For once, time stood still and we were able to appreciate the moment and get the shots we wanted.” - Shortstache

take the long way

Shortstache #7

requires two relic reserve tokens

This is a Relic Reserve Exclusive. The physical canvas is only available to holders of this piece.

Location: Iceland Highlands“Taking the long way allows me to digest more of what's happening in the moment. Even for my own career, taking the long way has allowed me to reflect on the past and where I’m headed. So many people wanna take the shortcuts, and anyone that's done it for a while knows that there is none, nor would you wanna skip it. Reflecting back, the long way allows me to enjoy the path I’m on. “ - Shortstache

every moment is
a new beginning

Shortstache #8

requires two relic reserve tokens

This is a Relic Reserve Exclusive. The physical canvas is only available to holders of this piece.

Location: : Bláhylur, Iceland“There is a moment for a lot of creatives and a lot of people in general where you go from imitating somebody or emulating a style you like, to finding your signature style that defines who you are. This was one of those moments where I was hyper aware that at any moment, one photo taken at the right time, or meeting that one person, or saying yes to that one opportunity, can change your life. Each one of those moments has a new beginning and realizing your past decisions have put you in that moment. Everything happens the way it's supposed to. Keeping an open mind creates endless possibilities.” - Shortstache
